On Sunday, September 7, a group of Action Read learners went to to the Eden Mills Writers Festival. It was a rainy day, One of the readers I saw was the following:
David Chariandy's latest book (fiction) is Soucouyant published by Arsenal Pulp in 2007. It was longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and shortlisted for nine other prizes, including the Governor General’s Award, the Commonwealth Best First Book Prize, the Ethel Wilson Prize (BC Book Prizes), the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year (for fiction), the Amazon.ca/Books in Canada First Novel Award and the ReLit Award. Chariandy lives in Vancouver and teaches in the department of English at Simon Fraser University. His second novel, Brother, is forthcoming from McClelland and Stewart.
