Action Read's Volunteers are Amazing!

Barbara tutoring Jeff
Action Read thanks all the volunteers who have contributed to the life of our organization.  Your support, energy, efforts and enthusiasm build a stronger and more vital learning centre in our community.

What do volunteers do at Action Read?  Yes, our volunteers teach and answer the phones, but they do even more too!  Here are a few other things our wonderful volunteers do. They;
  • teach
  • encourage
  • inspire
  • research lessons
  • clean and vacuum the office
  • encourage their learners by doing special things
  • attend tutor training and Annual General Meetings
  • cover when staff are sick
  • come in to sign cheques and documents
  • install shelves
  • help us paint
  • help out at community events
  • do dishes at the holiday party
  • emcee events
  • give us valuable information

  • Carin and Sharon at the mall!
    help with groups
  • perform administrative tasks
  • sharpen pencils and organize the office
  • photocopy
  • write thank you letters and reports
  • listen and support
  • donate their precious time
  • work on the Board and committee
  • challenge us to try new things or do things differently
  • help on hiring committees
  • meet our funders and supporters
  • donate funds, dictionaries, learning resources and more
  • rally around literacy issues
  • act as Action Read ambassadors in the community
  • speak on behalf of Action Read
  • perform poetry, music and theatre to raise funds and awareness
  • attend volunteer fairs
  • offer special workshops and training
  • research and create policies
For these and many other things, the board, staff and learners of Action Read give a heartfelt thank you.  We truly couldn't do it without you!
