Gimme Gimme Gimme a Musical After Midnight!

Looking for a new way to bring reading into your life? Do you love music? Try doing karaoke versions or sing-along versions of your favourite songs and musicals! This way you’ll already know the words and will be able to see what they look like too. You can search for the lyric version of any song on YouTube and read the lyrics while you sing. Any words you don’t know how to read will be sung to you. Choose slower songs if you want to take it easy and faster songs if you get better at reading. I personally like the Mamma Mia soundtrack because the songs are easy to sing, and the speeds of the songs are great for singing clearly. There are many Disney movies that you can sing along to with your kids too! The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King and Mulan are just a few kids’ movies that have some of my favourite sing-alongs. Looking for more adult musicals? Try classics like Mamma Mia, Cats, Rent, Chicago, Burlesque, The Rocky Picture Horror Show or Dr. Horrible’s Sing- Along Blog (starring Neil Patrick Harris). Just look up the lyrics to the soundtracks of each musical. Once you find them, have the lyrics out so you can read them while you watch (and sing).  Try it out!
